The Put Foot Rally Shoe drop 2012

Well, as you've no doubt figured out by now, we're pretty damn excited about road-tripping around Southern Africa. The parties - the wildlife - the thrill of knowing that if Constance breaks down there is no possible way we can fix her... But it's not just about the thrills - the most important thing we'll be doing along the way is taking part in a shoe drop at Senkobo Basic School in Zambia.

Every day 405 children between the ages of 7 and 16 make their way to class at Senkobo Basic School - of these 119 are orphans.
The Put Foot Rally mission is to gift a pair of new school shoes to each of these 405 children at this Shoe Drop! On the 27th of June the Put Foot crews will drive in convoy 30km out of Livingstone into the outlying rural area where Senkobo is located.
Senkobo School is incredibly impoverished – many of the children barely have uniforms, the majority have no shoes and the school desks are on their last legs. BUT we have the oppurtunity to do something to change this!

Changing a life with a single pair of shoes!

The Put Foot Foundation’s vision is to put shoes on the feet of the millions of children in Southern Africa that do not have them, not only once but for good, restoring HOPE, PRIDE and DIGNITY to the neediest learners.

Why Shoes?

Shoes are symbolic of pride and give confidence to young learners knowing that they can walk to school in comfort, as opposed to barefoot.

Only brand NEW school shoes are gifted. The Put Foot Foundation firmly believes in doing something once, and doing it properly – as such these children will only receive high-quality, 100% leather school shoes. These new shoes need to be tough enough to protect a young child’s feet whether on the playground, on the sports field or walking many of kilometres home in the middle of winter.

A lot of people feel that their small contribution won’t make a difference in the bigger scheme of things – but to each of the children at Senkobo Basic School it will make the world of difference!
